My work derives from my upbringing in Guernsey. I regularly return to the buildings that have formed my arena for childhood play. The impact of the predominance of redundant IIWW German military buildings within the rural-coastal landscape including evoked my interest in identity and our sense of 'self' (which is largely constituted by our memories of childhood). In relation to this my current practice is focused on childhood play within an environment of redundant military architecture.
Following my BA in fine art at the University of Sunderland then five years professional practice establishing myself within the north east, I am now living in London and halfway through my Masters in fine art at the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins. I received £700 project funding last year to enable research that would directly contribute to works made upon this course. For my interim show in January I made an installation that takes the form of an over-sized children's game. For my final show in August I intend to show an inflatable bunker.
